Message from the President
Today’s complex global challenges require business leaders who have a deep understanding of people and companies, a broad and deep vision of paths forward and the knowledge, skills, and mindset to improve our firms and society.
Our belief, and that of IESE Business School whom we have chosen to support from the United Kingdom, is that effective and principled management education is critical to developing such leaders; leaders who can have a deep impact on other people, their businesses, and society through their professionalism, integrity, and spirit of service.
World-class management education emerges and develops when leading, committed academics are connected with young leaders of high potential who share a concern for society’s challenges, who place a value on people at the individual level and in communities, and who see business as a force for good.
The IESE Foundation UK is pleased to support projects that help this educational endeavor, by funding faculty development, making grants for research to develop new insights for business and society and to keep faculty at the leading edge of their fields and awarding scholarships for students of diverse backgrounds and outstanding academic and professional credentials and who share IESE values. We also support campus development projects so that this education is achieved in a professional and innovative manner.
We count on the long tradition of generosity in the United Kingdom and the strong and loyal cadre of alumni and friends of IESE Business School. Our hope is to shape the current world for the better and to leave a legacy for the next generation, understanding that each grant awarded is an investment in the future, made possible by your support.
We are grateful for the good work done by Fundación International IESE, which holds the IESE Endowment and makes scholarship and research grants from endowment proceeds. We have chosen to support their projects through raising awareness of their grant programs in the US and through fundraising for them.

Foundation Purpose
From the bylaws of IESE Foundation UK
The objectives of the Charity are to advance education for the public benefit, in particular by, but not limited to:
1. Promoting research and the useful results of research.
2. Cooperating with universities, business schools, other organizations and individuals.
3. Providing and assisting in the provision of scholarships and bursaries.
The purposes for which the Foundation is formed are to support research, the dissemination of information, education and training related to business and management and to economics, sociology, psychology and other disciplines, in so far as they relate to business and management. The Foundation will achieve its goals through grants to support the development and activities of other not-for-profit entities both in the UK and in other countries in so far as their programs and activities contribute to the achievement of the Foundation’s purposes.
Governing Law
IESE Foundation UK, is a charitable company limited by guarantee with registered charity number 1177922 and company number 11287347, established in the United Kingdom. IESE Foundation UK is established for exclusively charitable purposes and for the public benefit, under English law.
Jordi Canals
President & Board Chairman
Jordi Canals is professor of strategic management and the IESE Foundation Professor of Corporate Governance. He also leads the IESE Center for Corporate Governance. He was Dean of IESE from 2001 through 2016. He is the author of many books and articles on corporate governance and corporate strategy, including “Boards of Directors in Disruptive Times” (Cambridge University Press, 2023), “Building Respected Companies” (Cambridge University Press, 2011) and “Managing Corporate Growth” (Oxford University Press, 2000).
Prof. Canals has served as guest scholar at the International Monetary Fund, visiting scholar at the World Bank, post-doctoral research fellow at the Harvard Business School and guest scholar at the Brookings Institution.
He is a board member of several foundations promoting educational goals in Europe and the US. He also serves as board member in some international companies.
Jim Mirabal
Trustee
Jim Mirabal was born in London and is a graduate of Oxford University.
Subsequently qualifying as an accountant, he has spent his working life in various public, educational, and charity institutions including The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew Royal Academy of Music, and Lincoln College Oxford.
Jim lives in Oxford and now acts as trustee or treasurer for a number of small educational, medical, and musical charities.
Jaime Alonso Stuyck
Trustee
Jaime Alonso Stuyck is the Managing Director of the IESE International Foundation. As a recognized expert in endowment management, he is the author of the book “Gestión de Patrimonios” (Planeta-Deusto, 2022), president of the Investment Committee of IESE Business School, and a member of Investment Committees of various institutional and family funds. Additionally, he has extensive experience in the governance and development of social institutions in Germany, Spain, Great Britain, Israel, Italy, and the United States.
With a distinguished career in higher education entities, before joining IESE as Managing Director in 2007, he served as Manager at the International University of Catalonia, the Euro-Arab Management School, and the Università Santa Croce in Rome.
Jaime holds a degree in Physical Sciences from the University of Valencia and has completed a General Management Program at IESE. He has also taken specialized courses in management and financial investments at Harvard Business School, The Wharton School, Yale School of Management, Stanford Graduate School of Management, and London Business School.
Ella Leonard
Trustee
Ella Leonard is a partner and investment funds lawyer at Fladgate LLP in London. She heads the Funds, Finance and Regulatory Department and sits on the Executive Board of the firm. She was the Chair of Governors of PACT Educational Trust for 10 years, a charity which owns and manages both pre and senior, day, independent schools in South London.
Ella is also a governor of WPSF, a grant-making educational charity, and a director of the French Hospital of Rochester, a provider of sheltered accommodation to adults with financial, mental or physical need.
She is married with three children.
Mark Paviour
Trustee
Mark is a leadership advisory consultant and executive coach with a strong background in supporting executives through career transitions successfully. He works alongside the Executive Coaching Unit of IESE supporting a range of its executive programmes.
He has over 30 years working for leading global executive search firms in partner, country and practice leadership roles based in both the UK and Middle East. In those roles he advised on Board and senior management appointments, Board and C-suite succession and talent management planning and development agendas. His earlier career was both in Corporate and Investment banking and the not for profit sector.
Mark is a trained Coach, has an MBA from IESE and a MA from Oxford University. He has previously been President of the IESE UK Alumni Association.
He lives in Winchester, UK and is married with two children.
David Stead
Trustee
Originally from Leeds, David has lived in Leatherhead for over 25 years with his wife Louise, and three daughters.
David is passionate about helping organisations to succeed and increase their positive social and environmental impact. David is a Non-Executive Director (NED) at The Biodiversity Consultancy (a global consultancy advising companies on Nature impact), and at Tees Law (a fast-growing regional law firm, where he has a special ESG focus).
David is Chair of the Creative Commerce Board for CATS Global Schools and as well as being a Trustee for the Community Foundation of Surrey, he is on the Boards of The University of Surrey Business School, The Royal Commonwealth Society, and the IESE Foundation. As a freelance consultant he advises Foundations and philanthropists.
Previously David was CEO or Director for a number of major start-up, charity, legal, consulting and banking organisations including Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), 11KBW, Field Fisher, Eversheds, KPMG, Accenture, RBS and UBS.
David writes for various journals including Impact Entrepreneur and Philanthropy Impact.
